1. The Recycler: Recycling More Than Your Blue Bin

Important information for a successful recycle!

Empty out as much as you can!
✔ No sorting is required - place it all in a kitchen-sized bag and/or a box for us to pick up!
✔The only items we ask you to keep separate are contacts, oral care items, small papers, foil and cigarette waste.
✔If the item says ‘any brand’ then any brand of that type of waste is accepted.
✔All beverage recycling (any glass, bottle or cans) provided to us here will be donated to a charity/organization of the month!
✔ Items are subject to change as programs become available/unavailable.

Acceptable items are listed below and organized by category.

Beauty & Health
Beauty and Health Products & Packaging: Any brand

  • Contacts and blister packs

  • Deodorant

  • Eyeglasses and hearing aids

  • Eyeliner pencils and cases

  • Eyeshadow and bronzer cases

  • Eyeshadow and concealer tubes and sticks

  • Foundation packaging

  • Lipstick, lip balm, and lip gloss tubes, cases, and caps

  • Mascara tubes

  • Oral care items (ex. toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, toothbrush, brush heads, floss, flossers, mouthwash containers)

  • Plastic and glass tubes, pots, pumps, sprays, and jars

  • Powder cases

  • Razors, razor blades, packaging

Specific branded items accepted include:

  • Aservo™ EquiHaler™ including blue nozzle and lower outer housing

  • Burt’s Bees® products and packaging

  • Schwarzkopf® got2b® products and packaging

  • TULA® skincare branded products and packaging

Unacceptable items include: Perfume, nail polish bottles, nail polish remover bottles, pressurized canisters (nail polish remover and aerosol cans are accepted in the Reducer!) 

For health and safety concerns please place all contacts and oral care products in a contained box or bag.

Food & Animal Food Packaging:

  • Aluminum can tabs

  • Babybel® packaging (for all different varieties), such as cellophane, tag, net, metal clasps, wax, and plastic wrappers

  • Beverage recycling

  • Bottle caps (ex. plastic or metal)

  • Coffee bags - any brand

  • Glass: food grade glass (ex. olive oil container, mayo container etc). Glass that did not have food in it is not accepted (ex. pyrex, vase, candleholders).

  • Small pieces of foil - (ex. chocolate foil packaging)

  • Snack pouches and caps: Any brand (ex. baby food, applesauce and/or squeezable kids snacks)

  • Pet food packaging: Open Farm, Eukanuba, Wellness and Royal Canin brands

  • Popcorn packaging: Angie's BOOMCHICKAPOP® ready-to-eat popcorn bags, microwave popcorn bags, and outer plastic packaging and other Conagra popcorn brands packaging including Orville Redenbacher®, ACT II®, Jiffy Pop®, Crunch 'n Munch®, and Poppycock®. Yes, the bag the popcorn actually comes in!

    Please place all small foil pieces in a contained box or bag.

Home Goods and Cleaning Products:

  • Air and home care products and packaging (any brand) including air fresheners, air freshener refill cartridges, plastic bottle trigger heads, pumps and caps, plastic packaging, flexible cleaning wipe packaging

  • Clean socks with holes in them, worn out or with no pair. Must be clean.

  • Hasbro used toys (if they are not good enough to donate)

  • Plant pots

  • Reusable shopping bags

  • Small papers: papers smaller than a deck of cards (ie: cardboard and paper tags from clothing)

  • Swiffer (refills and packaging)

  • Textile recycling (ex. clothing, fabric, bedding, towels etc)

  • Writing instruments: used pens, pencils, markers, mechanical pencils, highlighters, caps, etc.)

  • Ziploc Endurables

    Please place all small paper products in a contained box or bag.

Appliances, Electronics & Tools:

  • Electronics - headphones, camera cards, cords, etc.

  • Tools - acceptable brands include: DEWALT®, CRAFTSMAN®, BLACK+DECKER®, STANLEY®, IRWIN®, LENOX®, MAC Tools®, PORTER-CABLE® and Bostitch®

  • Metal recycling and scrap metal

  • Printer ink and toner

  • Small appliances

    Please note power tools of any brand will also be accepted as small appliance recycling.

Smoking Products:

  • Vape, cigarette and cannabis packaging (any brand)

  • Recycle empty HEETS Sticks and flexible packaging, empty VEEV and VEEBA Devices including batteries, and all brands of empty vape cartridges

  • All parts of extinguished cigarettes, cigarette filters, partial cigarettes, cigar stubs, outer plastic packaging, inner foil packaging, rolling paper, and ash.

    Please note: We do not accept the paperboard packaging of a cigarette box. Instead, you may recycle this through your blue bin program.

    For health and safety concerns, please group and place all ashes and smoking waste in a contained box or bag.

2. The Refunder : Beverage Recycling

Important information for a successful refund!

CAPS MUST BE REMOVED. IF NOT REMOVED, SARCAN WILL TAKE YOUR REFUND.
✔ Keep the caps separate in a bag or box and we will take them to be recycled for you! 
✔ The customer must have a Sarcan Drop & Go account and provide Reroute with their email or cellphone associated with the account. Money will be sent to you through your Sarcan Drop & Go account. 
✔ Glass bottles must be separate from aluminum and plastic beverage containers.

Acceptable Items:

  • Aluminum cans: usually holds pop, carbonated water, energy drinks, alcoholic drinks and more

  • Plastic bottles: usually holds pop, water, juice, dairy and plant-based milk, creamers, drinkable yogurts and more

  • Dairy and plant-based milk: cream, fluid coffee creamer, half & half, buttermilk and more

  • Gable top cartons: juice, cream and dairy & plant-based milk

  • Drink boxes: hold a variety of drinks including juice, dairy milk, plant-based milk, energy drinks, water and more. Also called a ‘tetrapak’.

  • Glass bottles: usually hold pop and alcoholic beverages like beer, wine and spirits

  • Refillable beer bottles: the basic beer bottle

  • Tin cans: usually hold fruit juices and coconut water

Unacceptable Items:

  • Any beverage container purchased outside of Saskatchewan

  • Foil pouches

  • Bag-in-a-box containers (wine, water)

  • Products labelled as meal replacements (Boost, Ensure, etc.)

  • Baby juice and formulas (pediatric drinks)

  • Containers larger than 5 litres (Water jugs, industrial milk bladders)

  • Any product (frozen or non-frozen) which requires one or more additives (frozen juice concentrates, liquor mix etc.)

3. The Reducer: Household Hazardous Waste

Acceptable Items:

  • Adhesives - contact cement, resin, glue, sealer, caulking 

  • Aerosols - hair spray, insect repellant, lubricant spray, furniture cleaner, bear spray, sunscreen, whipped cream, cooking oil spray

  • Automotive - used oil, oil filters, antifreeze, carburetor cleaner, batteries, fuel, windshield wiper solution, transmission fluid, brake fluid, empty oil containers and pails (note: maximum of 40L of oil)

  • Batteries - Alkaline, dry cell, NiCad, lithium, lead-acid (automotive).

  • Cleaners - floor, carpet, clothing, oven, glass, car wax, disinfectant, aluminum cleaner 

  • Cylinders - propane, helium, oxygen, acetylene, fire extinguishers, MAP gas, butane, carbon dioxide

  • Corrosives - drain cleaner, engine degreaser, ammonia, battery acid, sulfuric acid 

  • Fuels - gasoline, diesel, kerosene, oil/gas mixture 

  • Light Bulbs & Ballasts - fluorescent light ballasts (with or without PCBs), light bulbs

  • Mercury - mercury, mercury thermometers 

  • Oxidizing Chemicals - chlorine, bleach, pool/hot tub chemicals, fertilizer, hydrogen peroxide

  • Paint - Paint and paint products 

  • Pesticides & Fertilizers - pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides, fertilizer

  • Pharmaceuticals - prescription drugs (simply cross out your personal information), medicines (no needles, sharps or biological waste) 

  • Propane Cylinders - barbeque cylinders (20 lb), camp cylinders (1 lb)

  • Solvents - varsol, paint thinner, naphtha, acetone, toluene, xylene, alcohol, benzene

  • Used tires (automotive)

  • Vaping Products - Vape juice containers and cartridges (full or empty) and vape pens with non-removable batteries are accepted. Vape pens with removable batteries should be disposed of in the garbage, and the batteries accepted with household hazardous waste

  • Other Materials - asphalt sealers, roofing tar, detergents, photographic chemicals, pigments, dyes, nail polish remover, lead, mothballs, phenol, pine oil, scouring powder, spot remover, septic tank chemicals, shoe polish, wood preservatives

Unacceptable Items:

  • Asbestos and asbestos-containing materials 

  • Biologically hazardous materials including sharps, needles and items contaminated with human fluids 

  • Construction, renovation, and demolition waste - tiles, shingles, insulation, light fixtures (ballasts and light tubes will be accepted if removed from fixtures).

  • Class 1 (Explosives) - including ammunition, fireworks, flares, guns, gun powder and related items

  • Class 7 (Radioactive) - including ionization chamber-type smoke detectors 

  • Large/heavy containers - ​70L and 205L drums 

  • Non-sealed containers - waste must be properly contained, and containers must be sealed.

  • Railway or landscaping ties 

  • Unlabeled containers - containers must be clearly marked to identify the contents.

3. The Giver: Donation Delivery

Important information for a successful donation!

✔ If it still has life in it, we will find someone who could use it!

✔ Please separate your items by type (ex. clothing, kitchen, housewares, books etc.)

✔ Please make sure everything is clean and in good condition

✔ All donations are guaranteed to go to someone in need, not to a for-profit organization.

Acceptable Items:

  • Baby and children’s gear (bottles, bouncy chairs, breast pumps, toys etc)

  • Books and media

  • Clothing (ex. men’s, women’s and children’s)

  • Children’s Toys (ex. including stuffed animals)

  • Diapers and wipes

  • Electronics

  • Female hygiene items (ex. tampons, pads, etc)

  • Food (must be sealed, not expired and be able to sit outside during the day while waiting for pickup)

  • Formula (can be opened)

  • Garden Vegetables

  • Housewares

  • Jewelry

  • Linens (ex. towels, blankets, sheets, etc)

  • Opened hygiene items (ex. shampoo, soap, lotion, makeup etc)

  • Pet food (can be opened)

  • Pet items (ex. toys, collars, etc)

  • Small appliances

  • Water bottles and coffee mugs

Not Acceptable at this time:

  • Large furniture

  • Large appliances (ex. refrigerators, stoves, etc)
