Our Story
We are committed to redefining waste management practices. By redirecting items from the landfill, we not only help preserve the environment but also contribute to building a more sustainable future. Our innovative approach doesn't stop there – we go the extra mile by supporting local charities and organizations, ensuring that every item donated through Reroute serves a greater purpose. We are dreamers, pioneers and we believe in a better tomorrow for all.
Meet the Team
Dillon and Launne are two hilarious humans who always have a funny story to tell. They met in highschool when Dillon told Launne a fake name at a bush party, and then a few years later, Launne told Dillon she liked his big nose. They started dating, Dillon botched his proposal and the rest is history. Dillon and Launne currently live in Saskatoon with their three young daughters, Ruby, Pauline (Polly) and Judith (Judy), as well as their dog Kathy and their cat Susan. They love showing their children how important it is to do what you can for people and the planet, whether that’s teaching them to pick up litter, taking them camping or to a local protest. Dillon and Launne are active fundraisers in the community, having raised over $150,000 with the help of friends and family for breast and ovarian cancer research and awareness. They can’t wait to help busy people in Saskatoon reroute their waste and give back directly to the people in need in our community.
Launne Kolla
CEO and Cofounder
Launne (She/Her) is a farm kid from Meskanaw, Sk. Where the heck is Meskanaw? Meskanaw is a hamlet on highway 41- between Melfort and Wakaw- home of the longest wooden trestle bridge in Western Canada. Launne will tell you that piece of hometown pride any chance she gets. Launne has wanted to save the planet and animals since she was young, which started by falling in love with manatees at a young age. Launne has a B.Sc in Biology from the University of Saskatchewan and a B.Sc in Marine Biology from Dalhousie University. She is a wildlife and marine biologist, a self declared ‘bird nerd’ and primarily works in the field with wildlife across Canada. When she isn’t doing fieldwork, she’s busy posting sustainable living tips and tricks on her social media account @do.more.good and blog, launnekolla.ca. Launne found her passion while posting for Do More Good, as a way to give back to the planet and it’s people. She started out trying to be ‘zero waste’ but now realizes that ‘zero waste’ is impossible, and it’s all about doing the best you can. She is transparent, goofy and preaches progress over perfection. Launne is SO excited to make it easier for the people of Saskatoon to reroute their waste from the landfill and deliver donations directly to the people who need them the most. In her spare time, she loves hanging out with her friends and spending time at the river with her family. She is the life of the party and has been known to have a 2 am talk about all the bird facts you need to know. She loves country music, quilting, traveling, backcountry camping, and hiking.
Dillon Kolla
President and Cofounder
Dillon (He/Him) grew up on a grain farm outside of Cudworth, SK. When he was young he was a hockey player and quite the Ukrainian dancer- he always says he could have made it big in the Ukrainian dancing world! As a young kid he always cared about the environment; he will be the first to tell you about an owl he saved that had a broken wing. He loves rocks and got a B.Sc in Geology from Dalhousie University. He now works at a Saskatchewan potash mine and talks about rocks all day long. Dillon lost his mother to ovarian cancer in 2013, and since then has actively volunteered his time and fundraises to help raise awareness and find a cure. He looks forward to being able to give back to people in need through Reroute. He can sometimes be aloof, but this business was his brainchild. Launne has rubbed off on him and he is quite the eco-expert himself. He used to be the guy that grumbles at reuse, recycling and cloth diapering, but now he will openly give someone heck for littering. In his ‘spare’ time, he can be caught watching anything Blue Jays related, doing ‘fun’ chores at the family acreage and he will never say no to a game of Catan. He also loves backcountry camping, hiking and anything that has a little bit of risk and adventure.
Kathy The Hype Girl
Kathy is our dog, who is affectionately nicknamed ‘dump bear’ as she eats anything she can find. But hey, she’s helping cut down on food waste! If you catch us picking up your things, you might see her riding shotgun hoping to visit a dog park along the pickup route.
Millie The Pickup Star
Mildred, affectionately known as Millie has been the family pickup since Dillon and Launne started dating. She’s driven a lot of miles, even driving from Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia and back 3 times! She’s got a lot of miles and a lot of rust, from that Nova Scotia road salt and her daily trips to the potash mine. She also has no air conditioning or radio, so if you see us singing with the window open- you’ll know why!
